Waiting On Wednesday (October 5th)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Grave Mercy: His Fair Assassin
by R.L. LaFevers

Summary (from GoodReads)

Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?

Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.

Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

Well doesn't this sound promising? We have a girl being trained as an assassin (which likely means "to kick ass"), a society worshipping ancient Gods, a love interest who might wind up dead, and Death as an actual character. What's not to love? This looks like it could have some serious potential and I am totally dying to check it out. Will the actual book be as amazing as the summary? Only time will tell. But I look forward to finding out. How about you?

I wanted to make sure that I shared where I found this. Why? Because right now, there is a chance that you could win an ARC of Grave Mercy or several other awesome looking books:

-- Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
-- Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer
-- Harbinger by Sara Wilson Etienne
-- The Fine Art of Truth or Dare by Melissa Jensen
-- My Family for the War by Anne G. Voorhoere

So, how do you get in on this awesome opportunity? Glad you asked. Hop over to The Party Pony, read the rules for the giveaway, and enter. Good luck and have fun!

So what's your pick this week? Anyone else interested in Grave Mercy? Which of the books in The Party Pony's giveaway would you love to read? I'd love to know so feel free to leave a comment. :)
