Shopaholic Sundays (2)

Shopaholic Sundays are a feature here at I Write, I Read, I Review where I talk about the books I bought, borrowed or received, as well as books coming out in the coming week that have grabbed my attention. It is also my opportunity to let you know if *I* know anything interesting is planned here. (I'm not always great at planning ahead, but I am working on it.

Anyway, thanks so much for dropping by!

Hey, guys!

I hope your week was as good as mine, because my week has been totally fabulous! We are getting some really warm gorgeous weather here in Ontario. Pretty soon it will be warm enough to coax grandma to sit on the front porch and listen to music. I think the fresh air will do here a world of good. We got BUNNIES this week! They are boys and their names are Kanga (he's brown and white) and Roo (he's gray and white, and smaller.) They are really cute.

Book-wise, I did an Amazon order and got some really exciting stuff. We're talking "I've been waiting months to read some of these" books. I also got a couple more goodies for my Kindle, not that the thing isn't spoiled as it is. Read on to find out everything going on here at I Write, I Read, I Review.

I've had a totally awesome book week. I didn't get a ton of stuff, but the books I did get are all books I am extremely anxious to read -- so much that I've finished one of them already and the package came in yesterday.

This Week's Books:

13 Little Blue Envelopes
The Selection
The Breakaway
Thumped
Insurgent
The Fault In Our Stars

This is where I talk about books coming out this week that I might want to buy. I get my list for the week by reading Fresh Batch over at Xpresso Reads. Curious what has my attention? Read on!

In Honor by Jessi Kirby -- I love books about road trips, and I tend to connect deeply to books where a character is experiencing the loss of a loved one. I have been interested in In Honor for quite a while and I look forward to checking it out.

Pretty Amy by Lisa Burstein -- This looks really interesting. Will Amy learn to be her own person? Just how messed up is her summer going to be? And were the girls she thinks of as "pretty" and "cool" really friends or not? (Is it just me, or does the fact that she thinks of them in that way make anyone else suspicious?)

Beauty by Lisa Daily -- This looks like it could be really fun. The majority of this feels like it should be contemporary, but the person who alters her appearance gives it a bit of a magical twist. What will the "balance" of the book be? That's what has me curious. Can the ideas here be done without beating the reader over the head with a message that beauty comes from within? (Which is my wager) I'm willing to find out.

The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls by Julie Schumacher -- This caught my attention on NetGalley, but I was too busy to request it, since I knew I wouldn't get to it quick enough. Now that it's out, though, I at least want to give a sample a whirl on my Kindle.

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson -- I just finished Amy and Roger's Epic Detour and I really enjoyed it. I actually didn't realize this was by Morgan when I saw it. I only found that out when I went over to GoodReads to check the author name. It sounds really promising, though.

Enchanted by Alethea Kontis -- This was my Waiting on Wednesday pick this week. What's not to love about a retelling of The Frog Prince? The description for this book has me totally intrigued and I can't wait to check it out. I'm really excited for this one.

I have some pretty great stuff lined up this week here at I Write, I Read, I Review. I'm actually quite happy with it! That's not something I've been able to say much in the last few weeks, and the enthusiasm -- and lack of stress -- is a welcome change. Anyway, here's what I *know* is going to be up on my blog:

Monday I will be posting my answer to this week's Book Blogging Confessions topic, which is what I comment on and how I try to encourage comments here.

Monday evening / Tuesday I will be posting a book from my shelves that has been there a long time and that I really need to get started on for Dusty Reads.

Tuesday I will be posting a review of The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. Quick answer on how I felt? "Loved it." But seriously, come back for the review because that doesn't begin to scratch the surface of how I feel about this book.

Wednesday I will be sharing yet another book I cannot wait to read as part of Waiting on Wednesday. This is definitely one of my favorite memes because I love finding books people haven't heard of, or encouraging interest for something about to release. And I also love finding out about books that have slipped past me, too.

Also on Wednesday, I will be unveiling my newest feature, Purchase or Pass? where I will be talking about whether the samples I download for my Kindle of books from "On My Radar" make me want to read them, or cause me to save my money. I'll also be encouraging all of you to tell me whether you're interested in the books and inviting you to take part in Purchase or Pass too, if you want. :)

Thursday will bring a review of Beastly by Alex Flinn. I am a huge fan of anything Beauty and the Beast, but much like with Greek mythology it's a touchy subject for me. Did Beastly work for me? You'll have to wait and find out -- I've got 60 pages to go so I can't comment here yet.

So, what did you get this week? Are there any books releasing that you are excited about? And do you have anything exciting coming up on your blog that you'd like to share? I'd love to know, so feel free to link up your mailbox / book haul / "whatever" post and leave a comment.

  10. INSURGENT. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. I hope you enjoy them both! The Selection has been getting a lot of buzz lately. The cover is GORGEOUS, though I haven't been sure if the story was for me. But I think I ought to give it a try, especially since I love CW shows and will likely check this out later in the year on tv :D

What an awesome week. ENJOY! <3
